Evening Series Week 2

A cool evening with light winds and just the odd spot of rain were the conditions for this weeks match and, with a bigger turnout of 10 anglers, pegging was on both sides of the lake.

Simon Harrold went one place better this week taking top spot from peg 21 with 56lb of mainly carp, catching in the margins on chick peas or meat.

Mark Seaman and Chris Tims had a peg to peg battle on 27 and 28 for second place with Mark shading it by 4oz! Mark weighing in 49lb 10oz to Chris’s 49lb 6oz.

Sections went to Wayne Staddon and Tony Rayner. Overall the lake fished quite well and a good time was had by all

So, Simon’s win puts him top of the league ahead of Chris with Mark in third (after just one match) but there is still all to play for over the next 3 weeks……. why not come and have a go next week…………See You There…………

1st Simon Harrold 56lb

2nd Mark Seaman 49lb 10oz

Winter League Wk9

The weather this week was just about the best for fishing that you could wish for at this time of year – overcast with hardly any wind. So, in these ideal conditions, how would the lake fish? Answer very well!

Bob Isbell ran out the winner with his feeder caught 67lb 12oz off peg 18 followed by the ever consistent Mark Seaman in 2nd with 59lb 5oz off peg 31 and in 3rd place this week was Colin Beales with 50lb 15oz off peg 24.

Sections went to Michael Tims, Ian Jones, Chris Isbell and Chris Tims.

The winter league produced a tight finish as predicted with Chris Tims just holding on to 1st place by 1 point from Colin Beales in 2nd and there were 3 anglers tied on 40 points for 3rd place with Mark Seaman beating Chris Isbell and Michael Tims on weight.

So great finish to this years 9 match series and we can look forward to doing it all again in the autumn – meanwhile there is the summer to look forward to.

This was also Martin Meek’s last match as Match secretary and I am sure you will all want to join with me to thank him for his work organising and running the matches for us over the past few years and hope he continues to enjoy his fishing and to see him on future matches – all the best Marty from all of us.

Winter League Wk 8

Mark Seaman wins this week with 37lb 7oz

Rain Rain and more Rain was the forecast for this weeks match and it wasn’t wrong!

9 anglers stayed to fish the match and with the lake colouring up fast as the muddy water from the surroiunding fields poured in it was anybodys guess as to how well the fish would respond.

Mark Seaman found the skimmers in feeding mood on peg19 and with the addition of a couple of carp put 37lb 7oz on the scales for 1st place this week.

Chris Tims was on peg 13 and a few sivers plus 5 carp to just sneak in to 2nd place with 28lb 7oz ahead of Michael Tims on peg 27 who had 27lb 12oz for 3rd.

Sections went to Simon Harrold and Martin Meek and everyone had double figures – so better than some recent weeks.

The winter league is now very tight at the top and will come down to the wire on the 3rd of March – which will make for a good last match…………………….see you there……….

Happy New Year!

Cold and dull with a north easterly breeze were the conditions that greeted the 16 members who turned out to fish the first match of the new year.

This was a silver fish match so carp didn’t count, so, of course, they fed with abandon, especially around peg 25 where Dave Jones hooked 12!!

Unfortunately the silvers didn’t feed quite so freely and the weights were low.

Ian Jones on peg 17 won with 11lb 6oz closely followed by Chris Isbel on peg 27 who had 11lb 2oz for 2nd and Mark Seaman was 3rd with 9lb 12oz of peg 19

Next match is on 21st January 2024 and is the Pairs Match……….. see you there……..
