Christmas match / Silvers 2 / Winter League 4
The Christmas match is always a popular fixture and this year was no exception, with 17 members arriving to fish. The forecast was for dry day with a bit of a breeze which had disposed of last weeks leaf problems and with sausage rolls before the draw and plenty of the normal banter, everyone was looking forward to catching a few fish. Unfortunately the fish had other ideas and although there were a fair few carp landed (not counting – silvers only today!) the skimmers and roach were few and far between.
Chris Tims drew peg 24 and had only 1 skimmer at 1pm and was thinking that he had drawn at the wrong end of the lake, but slowly he started getting the odd bite and ended up with 10 fish for 5lb 7oz and 1st place this week.
Colin Beales was on peg 28 and caught small fish for 4lb 10oz and 2nd followed by the ever consistent Chumba who had 4lb 5oz for 3rd off peg 31 thanks to a couple of last- gasp skimmers in the final 15 minutes of the match.
Sections went to Mason Cutting, Ian Jones and Billy Watson.
The lake definately showed its harder side today with 7 blanks recorded although if carp had counted things would have looked much more positive, especially for Mason who had 3 carp for over 30lb !
Thanks to Dave Jones for organising the match and the sausage rolls at the draw and the mulled wine and mince pies afterwards, and of course, as it was Christmas, everyone went home with a prize off the table.
Next Match is on 4th January 2026 ! So, all that reamins for me to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ……………………See you in 2026……..
