To All Members.
This is an update of the future works for the club lake in 2025. Last year I went on a 2 day Fishery Management course with the Environment Agency and brought some information back to the committee with some issues that we felt should be implemented.
1. We have planted some reeds between pegs 1 and 7 which once the root system has been created will help to protect the bank to prevent the continuous rebuilding with wood. It will also give some coverage for the fish along this side of the lake. Should this be successful we will put more around the lake where the boards are.
2. We have arranged for the removal of the tree’s water side of the path around the lake. Upon inspection a number of trees were found to be diseased so need to be removed along with some that have started to lean. This in turn will cut down the amount of leaves going into the lake. By doing this it will enable the wind to give the movement of water which will help with the oxygen levels. The oxygen levels have fluctuated over the last year when regular checks have been made. We also want to remove the danger of any branches falling and causing injury or damage to members or their equipment.
Following on from the thinning out of trees new saplings will be planted. This work has all been agreed with the landowner.
The work has been booked for the 17th March for 3 weeks. Fishing will still be allowed during this period although being a bit noisy Monday to Friday. However there will be restrictions on where you can fish during the period.
